Launch of Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX : Delayed |
Ford Motor Co. will delay delivery of its new Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossover vehicles as it irons out problems at its Oakville, Ontario, manufacturing complex, company officials said Wednesday. The company initially said it would deliver the car-based crossover vehicles to dealerships in November, but that now has been delayed until an unspecified date in December.
The delay is due to assembly-line glitches and hold-ups with parts deliveries by some suppliers. Industry observers say it's not unusual for such a delay, given the fact that the two new crossovers are equipped with a new engine and transmission and are being built in a new flexible body shop.
Ford wants to make sure all of its manufacturing processes are working correctly before delivering the vehicles.

Gee, what a surprise, delayed for quality issues. No one in their right mind would be the first to buy one of these. My family got burned by Ford twice and both times it was because we were 'early adopters'. A 1996 Ford Taurus and 2002 Ford Explorer were the worst auto purchasing mistakes I ever made.
I really like Ford's new motto: "Bold Moves" I agree it is a 'bold move' to buy a Ford product. And here I thought they could never one up the 'Quality is Job 1' b.s.
Gotta love that Ford...errrr Canadian car you got there...what a joke.
